Berufslehre

Vocational training (Berufslehre: Apprenticeship)

The vast majority (70-80%) of Swiss children begin Berufslehre after graduating from secondary school (9 years) and usually take 2-4 years to graduate. All vocational training is possible, including manual work (mechanic, carpenter, baker, hairdresser, etc.) and office work (secretary, bookkeeping, etc.).

After completing a vocational training course, you can get a job or go on to a university course, such as the College of Applied Sciences, to continue your studies. Many entrepreneurs sponsor this kind of training, so they receive hands-on training with no tuition fees and some theoretical training is included in the course.
