Research (Doctoral Degree)

Doctoral programs are offered at most higher education institutions in the UK. A Ph.D. is a higher degree than a master's, but it is not necessary to have a master's degree in order to get a Ph.D. You can enter your doctoral program if you have a good undergraduate degree, or have a Honors Degree of 1 or 2, with a master's degree of less than 10-15%.

In general, students first enroll in a master's degree program (MPhil), which serves as a Ph.D. preparation program, and then enroll in a master's program (MPhil), which serves as a Ph.D. Students will be assessed for their ability to conduct research for one or two years. Upon successful completion of the master's program, the student is transferred to the formal doctoral program by the recommendation of the advisor.
