First Degree Course

Undergraduate courses in the UK are usually three years, but courses involving sandwiches and Honors degrees in Scotland take four years. In addition, medical, dental and architectural colleges are 6 years. There are more than 5,000 degree programs currently offered at UK universities.

Admission to a UK university usually requires two to three GCE A levels (Graduate College entrance qualification) and several GCSE scores. In addition, the excellent BTEC Diploma is recognized by many tertiary institutions as appropriate admissions qualifications.

University application is done through UCAS. The UCAS application is designed to support up to five schools, and the completed application must be received between UCAS September 1 and the following year, January 15.

UCAS applications can be obtained from ECS. Applications from Oxford University or Cambridge University must be sent to UCAS no later than October 15 of the year prior to admission. The same documents must also be sent to Oxford or Cambridge. Before applying, you should contact the college of your choice to find out about the entrance exam. Usually Oxford or Cambridge University cannot apply at the same time.
